Are there such things as accessible MP3 players like the Sandisc or I-Pod or something you download music to? Where would I find one or does anyone have one for sale?
The Zenstone mp3 player doesn't have a screen, has very few buttons, and is very accessible. You just connect it to your computer and copy and paste your music onto it from your music folder. If you want to be able to listen to music, movies, and audio books, you should get the Victor Reader Stream. You can put a lot more stuff on those. The only bad thing is that its a lot bigger than the Zenstone. I got my Zenstone from Ebay and my VRStream from Humanware.
if you want something thats fully accessible and will read back text files, and or html and a few others, can listen to daisy books in addition to play mp3's and movies and record as well your best bet is aVictor reader or booksense, or even an accessible phone with talks or mobile speak depending on phone. if you just want an mp3 player for listening to music some iPods are accessible but this requires the use of iTunes to transfer music to them. Some of the sansa's and other mp3 players can be made to be somewhat accessible with rockbox which can be found at www.rockbox.org i believe. Or get one of the many inexpensive mp3 players that doen't have screens if all you want is to listen to music and the like.
don't you have another topic with this same name?
Sorry, I do have a topic similar but that was dealing with more of how to put music, audio books on MP3 players. This one I just wanted to find out if there were accessible ones available.
For the Victor Reader Stream, that will play music, daisy files, regular downloaded audio books, and movies?
The ZenStone, will play music, audio books. Will it work with daisy files or movie files?

I didn't know that there were that many screenless ones available. I thought there was only one. This is really cool. What kind of interfaces do they use to connect to computers and the like? How much can they hold? Do they work with pcmcia cards?
The Victor Stream requires an SD card that tfits in to the back of the unit. (Here, I mean the back if you hold the unit with the keypad facing up, as if you were going to use it and it's resting on a flat surface.) It'll only play the audio files of the movies, not the visual stuff as there is no screen.
I have a muvo t 100. I know they cell them at amazon. It is screneless with a simple button system. I have a 4 gb mp3 player, and it is audible ready, plays mp3s and wma files. It is a cheeper option than the streme but can be used for music and books or any other mp3 files which is what I wanted it for. It's the size of a thumb drive.
Hmm, I was looking into the Zenstone last night and it sounds wonderful. How is the Muvo different from that one? I'll look it up, of course, but am interested in personal opinions as well for those who've used both.
Well creative the company that makes the zen has many different zen models so its a matter of finding one that plays all the file formats. Screenless ones will usually not play back video formats since there is no screen but you can convert them easily to mp3's before transfering the file to the player. Screenless ones are made by so many different companies , most of whom you probably have never heard of and well quite frankly the brand name doesn't matter, cuz all they are are usb thumb drives with a little bit of pre installed media software about 4 or so buttons (play/pause, stop, rewind, fast forward etc) and an headphone jack. So simple enough to use by anyone sighted or not.Personally for me i just stick with my phone since they all have micro sd slots now and i always have it on me anyways .. and stereo bluetooth headsets aren't that expensive anymore.
Hmm, that's all good to know. I pretty much only use mp3 so this gives me alot more options now. Maybe, I can find a nice cheap one. I was looking at the 4 gb Zenstone with speaker. The thing I love about it is that I could just copy and paste stuff into it, with no software needed. I also like the slider that allows me to switch folders. These things are necessities to me.
Thanks for the info. I did find the Creative site for the Zen Stone and am looking at all the different ones and prices. Who makes the Muvo player so I can check it out too? I like the things the Victor can do, and maybe I might eventually end up with that one, but am keeping my options open for now.

It's definitely good to check their site for both prices and descriptions. However, I usually get my things from other stores which have better prices. So shopping around is always a good idea.
yeah use creative site to fien the one you like but chances are you can find it cheaper elsewear online. www.amazon.com, www.tigerdirect.com, www. buy.com, and www.newegg.com are all good places to try if you want to go with well known sites. www.pricewatch.com is another good one to but thats for comparing prices and finding a store to buy from.
does anyone know where I can get the iRiver h140? I know they do not make them but I really want one. I use the iriver h10 20 gig right now but my battery is dead so it does not stay charged but for like 10 minutes.
ebay or craigslist will probably be your best bet.
Hi, I have a Sansa 4 G clip Mp3 player. It is a very new model. It has a four-way control pad, so all you need to do is learn the sequence of what buttons to push. I just had my sighted niece show me once or twice, and now, it's cake to get from my music to radio. My player plays video, but I don't have it on there, cause it takes up a lot of room, and drains the battery quicker. I got my player for less than $50.00 at amazon.com. You don't have to use Itunes with it, cause it's not an ipod. It plays all my downloaded songs from Amazon and Walmart, and any CDs I have ripped onto my laptop. I like the player, and it has a built-in clip, which is perfect for working out. HTH.
